4:03 am - new Earick...
|
So I'm an uncle again...w00t! My brother Clark and sister-in-law Kelly had their first baby yesterday the 26th via an emergency c-section. Kelly's blood pressure was something insane like 220/160 so they decided to operate. The baby was about a month early. Both mother and baby seem to be doing fine now. They had a little girl....4 lbs 12 oz. Her name is Madison Ruth Earick and she's gorgeous with a full head of black hair.
P.S. Who do both my brothers have to keep taking baby names from my list for theirs??? First my oldest brother Brian took a boys name from me with his son Blake. Now Madison is gone from my girls list *sighs*.

3:07 pm - Back from my trip...
|
I <3 North Carolina and everything about that state. Well, maybe minus the Tar Heels. GO DUKE! Actually, I'm pretty stoked about any place in the southeast. I would absolutely love to end up in VA/NC/SC/GA eventually. Every time I go down there it just reaffirms that. I had a blast hanging out with you Monica, thanks again for letting us crash your new apartment :). Now if only I could get this damn thesis finished so I can graduate and move on to PhD school so I have the chance to live down there. Or if I didn't have a car that would die on me half way down there, I'd be down at Duke visiting Mon about twice a month I think. Football games? I'm down. Basketball games? Hell yes. Baseball games? Yep. So basically I'm just gonna like move in or something. I wish!
On another note, I was on the phone with Kris the other night and I've come to the conclusion that my standards for women are WAY too high for the Dayton area. Well maybe it's just that Dayton sucks so bad but either way. Can somebody please tell me why I don't even KNOW more than a handfull of girls that meet my itty bitty tiny requirements listed below?
1) Christian 2) Smart 3) Attractive 4) Nice 5) Single 6) No children 7) Slept with under 4 ppl (this is misleading cause it depends on the girl...but if you come at me with "hey you'll be my number 8" please do not apply)
There are others, but they're all bonus stuff that would just be nice. Not really mandatory.

5:23 am - WESTON RD. representin' on my computer desk....
|
Haven't updated in awhile. Wait, I NEVER update that often so this pretty much isn't a big shocker. Had the craziest most interesting weekend ever. I will leave the "we almost died" , "we're drunken fools" and "we committed multiple misdemeanors" stories to enzo911 and corda (I'd add Chach to this list too but I don't think she has an LJ account...correct me if I'm wrong?)
Matt - Listen here broseph. You better fix my chopper before I stomp your goofy ass! That's how I roll! You my dawg. Thanks for driving my broke ass up there for a really fun weekend. Even though I bitched and complained about (and am still grumbling about actually) not getting ANY of my work done that I needed to do, thanks for making me stay up there. I've never really had a one night vacation turn into FOUR DAYS before but whatever, it's all good. I'm just glad I'm a heavy packer :).
Corda - You know I love you girl. How many freaking years have I been trying to tell you we need to hang out more? Yeah, don't listen to the smart kid *shakes head*. Here's to being uber geeks together, only the cool kind :). And by the way, the 3 number needs to become 0 like ASAP. I mean seriously....it's kinda gross. Don't forget our deal, next time we go out you're TOTALLY my sister. P.S. I think you're the first female I've ever met in my entire life to share like 95% of my eating habits and likes with....yeah you pretty much rock.
Rachel - No NOT Chach, you heard me right dammit I said Rachel. I had an absolute blast hanging out with you. Now if only I can figure out a way to hang out with you WITHOUT your Aunt trying to make out with me :-\. I have no idea why (maybe it was the bite marks?) but we pretty much had insta-bond between us all weekend, so here's to being instant BFFFFFFFF's.....only if you drank of course, which obviously you don't. You're definitely the coolest 16 year old I've ever met (minus myself when I was 16). After all, I'm only 3 or 4 years older than you right? Besides, your parents think I'm a good influence on you....which of course I AM! Duh. P.S. Thanks to you and my lack of anything at my apartment to remove it...I'm going to have to teach class tomorrow with a certain shall we say "situation"
Mr & Mrs Ryan - Yeah I know there's no chance in hell they are going to read this (unless one of you girls makes them) but I wouldn't feel right leaving them out of this. I can't thank you two enough for the hospitality you showed us. Whether it was simply letting us sleep in until 2 on the couches or making us 410293841 awesome meals or giving me free CD's and audio magazines and taking me on tours of recording studios, know that it was very much appreciated. P.S. I gotta remember to tell my parents about that burger joint in Urbana!
To all the rest of you reading this. I do apologize for falling off the face of the Earth for like 4 days. I'm proud to say I had literally 14 voice mails tonight when I got home. I'm sorry that I spent the weekend in the MIDDLE OF FREAKING NOWHERE, which had NEGATIVE CELL PHONE RECEPTION to the point that my phone likes to cut out DURING THE MIDDLE OF A 911 CALL. Of course getting cell phone reception didn't do me much good the last few days since I decided not to bring my cell phone charger along for the overnight trip....which became 4 days....so my cell phone was dead anyway. I hope every one had a great weekend. Now it's time for me to prepare my lecture for class tomorrow and go to bed instead of grading papers like I'm supposed to :-D.
P.P.S. Kris you totally need to see pics from this weekend. Something happened that you're going to just have to see to believe. You're going to enjoy this...trust me.
P.P.P.S. Long live the art of "cubing" someone. If you wanna know, just ask. It's SOOOOOO true. "He'd be a really strong young horse that's really dumb and does whatever I tell him to do....and I keep him really far away cause I don't wanna smell his poop". "They would probably be a cross between a horse and a camel...sorta like a corse. And I'd keep em close to me and in the shade in case I needed to get away really fast"
. . . .
Did anyone else hear a guy trying to hock a loogie in the woods?!?!?!

3:42 am - Actual update
|
Well today is my first day as a quasi-adjunct faculty here at Wright
State. They had to hire me as that for me to be allowed to actually
teach the audio class I'm teaching this summer. I'm excited at the
opportunity as this will look REALLY good on my resume and give me some
relaxed experience for being a professor in the future. Many people
have told me how rare (see impossible) it is to get actual classroom
time as only a lowly Graduate student...heck sometimes they don't even
let PhD students in the classroom until they're almost done. Anyway, I
hope it's fun and a good experience and am excited to get started.
I talked to my friend Heather this last week. I hadn't talked to her in
probably over a year. It was good to hear from her and get caught up
with each other. She's long graduated from college and has a new job
travelling all over the place (albeit not relating to her major AT ALL)
but seems to be very happy. On other fronts graduation was this weekend
and I realized that with this graduating class absolutely ALL of my
friends that I've ever taken any form of classes with from undergrad
will now have graduated. Hell at the graduation party tonight I
realized that half the guys there I've taught labs to in the past.
After graduation and talking to Heather I really started doing some
thinking about ultimately what I want to accomplish in my life and how
far I've come to achieving that so far. And without a doubt the
conclusion I've come to is that I haven't even hardly started to come
close to being or doing what I want. I feel like I've spent the last
six years of my life here at WSU getting a good education, making some
great friends and figuring out what the hell I want to do for a
living....but other than that I've pretty much just been spinning my
wheels and living out the hours of each day waiting for tomorrow to
come only to do the same thing all over again then too.
I'm really a simple person. Kristine knows that better than anyone I
think...maybe that's just why she gets me so well sometimes. Ultimately
though the things I want in life aren't that far fetched or
extravagant...it's just the simple pleasures that I want to enjoy. I
want to be married to a smart, sweet, caring, genuine girl that will be
the love of my life and make me excited to wake up every morning. I
want to be able to live in a nice home (see not ghetto) in a decent
neighborhood. I want my Corvette. I want to be involved with and coach
HS sports. I want to have a dog. I want to have and raise children. I
want to be the best Christian that I can possibly be. That's cool and
all, but for the last six years of my life I've spent them at school
learning to be an Electrical Engineer and doing projects and research
and teaching. Now I honestly do think I want to be a professor, and I
really do enjoy EE and audio. Music always has been sort of a passion
of mine. But the simple fact remains that what I've been doing occupies
all of my time yet it accomplishes absolutely nothing from what I truly
want out of life.
Wes' checklist of things he wants to accomplish in life
Items checked : None
*raises glass* Here's to living each day and trusting in God to provide
for me and put me in the places He wants me to be in order to become
the person both He and I want me to become.
P.S. I told you bitches I had a real update I wanted to post. Who knew
I had it in me? I know, what can I say....maybe once in a blue moon I
actually get inspired.

 | You scored as Christianity. Your views are most similar to those of Christianity. Do more research on Christianity and possibly consider being baptized and accepting Jesus, if you aren't already Christian.
Christianity is the second of the Abrahamic faiths; it follows Judaism and is followed by Islam. It differs in its belief of Jesus, as not a prophet nor historical figure, but as God in human form. The Holy Trinity is the concept that God takes three forms: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost (sometimes called Holy Spirit). Jesus taught the idea of instead of seeking revenge, one should love his or her neighbors and enemies. Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross to save humankind and forgive people's sins.

|
Two tickets for the NCAA Tournament in Nashville are now MINE! Compliments of the University of New Mexico, LMFAO, but hey I'm going to be there. Found out about 10 other OU people got their tix from UNM as well so we're going to try and all sit together...plus the UNM section is the section RIGHT NEXT to the OU section anyway! W3rd. I'm so stoked I can't even sleep.
If OU wins I'm going to have to do some figuring as to what I'm doing for the Sunday game. We'll come to that fork in the road if we need to. That is, after the Bobcats shock the country and upset Florida!
